Post Mortem Photos Article - No pictures on my site.

The article does have pictures though. In my opinion, they aren't gruesome.

http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2008/01/victorian_postmortem_photography.php

Since most of you out there are interested in vintage photographs, I wonder what you think of this?

Have you seen one of these before?

This is a hanging metal plate like picture. These are my grandparents who lived in Pennsylvania. I've never seen another one like this before. It is about 7" in diameter. The pictures are embedded somewhat onto the metal.

Random Hazel

I think that Hazel's father was the one who made up the sayings. It makes the pictures even more adorable.

Little ones...

At first glance do you see an ax in the babies hand? I have a strange mind, but the way the wood comes across....Let me know if you see it.
What do you think of this handsome little boy? I really do love this picture.

Roughing it

Wow! What a life these little girls must have had.

1914 Hazel on Friday

Friday's picture isn't real clear. Saturday's picture is totally missing in action. I found a couple of cute pictures of Hazel as a baby. I hope that you like them.

1914 Hazel on Thursdays

Thursday was cooking day. Can you feel the love that the parents had for this child?

What do you think of Hazel?

The scrapbook that I have is really something else. For some reason I think the father is the one who made the subtitles. There are many throughout the book. I actually have her baby book with two locks of her hair. She was born Hazel Mae Peck, on December 18, 1908 in Galveston Texas. The baby book also includes her first photo and her parents completed sections of her firsts and such. This is an estate sale treasure to me. It drives me crazy when I can't find out why it was being sold. Were there no family members? You just never know. Maybe one of them will find us here. You can't have it back now...it's mine. Oh, we'll see.

So let me know if you would like me to keep posting memorabilia on Hazel along with other photographs.

Backs

Sometimes the back of the cabinet cards are just are pretty darn interesting. These are cropped sections of the back of some cards. What do you think?

Celebrity Lookalike - I think

So tell me, who do you think this lady looks like? I wonder if you will see who I see?

1914 Hazel on Wednesdays

Wednesday is mending day! Here is Hazel with her sewing kit. Do you think that in this time period it was common to take photographs in a series like this with your child?

1914 Hazel on Tuesdays

Hazel really was adorable. Tuesday is ironing day.

This cabinet card was found at a local estate sale. This is one of my favorites. Of course, I have a jillion favorites.

Size of pictures

Okay, so tell me about the size of my pictures. When you click on them they are big. Should I resize them and make them smaller for you? One thing that I noticed is that with the picture big I can see so many things that I couldn't see in the original.

So let me know...

1914 Hazel on Monday

I found this album at an estate sale. This little girl was loved. You can tell by her album. Hazel lived in Galveston, Texas in 1914. There is a section in the book where they took her pictures and had her model doing different chores on each day of the week. Except Saturday. I couldn't find one for Saturday. So I will add one for each day of the week. You will fall in love with Hazel.

Check these out...

So, I've never noticed this before, but I don't think I have many cabinet card photos of grandma's that have white hair . Have you noticed this before?

I wouldn't want to sit behind this lady in a movie theater.

He reminds me of a lion?

Do you see it? Or is it just me?

Check out these sideburns! He's kinda cute, don't you think?

I really like how these old photos were tinted.

Okay, somebody let me know what you think. Have a great weekend!
